This is my first day on Maternity Leave. Diesel is going to be getting a well deserved bath. I am going to hang around and relax. I have been having PUPPS and it is very itchy. It is all over my body and I can't sleep at night. I have bought and tried an assortment of ointments and non of them work for any extended period of time.
8am - Getting ready to put Diesel in the car to go to the groomers. Water breakage! What was that?? Ummmm ... Still drive Diesel to the groomer (because at the time he was the most important thing to me)
8:30am - Get home and thinking now what do I do? So I call Steve and tell him " I think my water just broke". He says "You think". I say " Yeah never had this happen, but something happened". So he says "I will call you back". I get a phone call from our friend Leslie "So you think that your water broke?" "Yeah, I think so", I relied. Sometime in there I also called my doctor and also my grandmother. My doctor said for me to get to the hospital (but I am 45 minutes away). So the plan was the Leslie was going to leave work and come to get me (about 45 minute drive from her work to my house. I the mean time I got my hospital bag and my stuff ready. I was no pain, feeling no contractions. I was also nerves as what was going to happen to my Diesel - so I called another friend, Lisa and Brad, and they happily went and pick up Diesel from groomer later that day and kept him for us while in the hospital.
So around 10am, Leslie arrives at my house. We decided she should drive my car to the hospital, so I could have the car seats and everything. We almost get into a car accident because a car stops in the middle of a major intersection - but everything is okay. We are taking and just getting to the hospital.
When we get to the hospital, Steve and his mom Nancy were already there. I walk into the hospital, they get a room for me, I change into the little gown thing, they test to see if it's anatomic fluid or not. Yes it was and I will have the babies sometime today. I still wasn't having any type of pain or contractions. Baby B was breech the last time that I saw the doctor, so they wanted to make sure which way he was facing, he was still breech, so I would have a c-section. Which is what I wanted anyways.
This part gets a little foggy to me, because I was just laying there, still in no pain and I guess having contractions, but I couldn't feel them. I know that I had a bunch of visitors, My Grandparents, Nancy and Dennis, Mike and Leslie, Brad, I know I am forgetting someone. Leslie made a Target run for snack foods and lunch for everyone.
Around 2pm, found out that we had a scheduled time of 8pm that night, June 5, 2006. I guess they hospital was very busy as people were afraid to have there baby on 6/6/06 that many mom's had scheduled delivery's before midnight. About an hour before my time, they took me into the operating room to get me ready. I remember that it was very cold in there. They sat me on the OR table and gave my the epidural and quickly laid me down. I remember having conversation with my doctor because we didn't know what the sexes were of the babies and he saying that he knew one of them and I asked what it was and he saying you will have to wait a little longer. And I laughed.
Steve came in the room as they were starting to get the first baby out, baby A, a boy, Chase Alan born at 8:05pm and then baby B, a boy, Cody Richard, born at 8:06pm. After that they put me out. I didn't get to see them until later.
I remember waking up in recovery, I guess I was bleeding pretty good still and they could get the blood stopped so I was in there for 2 hours, an hour longer then they expected. Steve came in there, even though he wasn't suppose to. But he had seen the babies and had lead a few people back to the nursery to see them also. They were doing good. I finally got to my room about 11pm.
They brought Chase and Cody to me about midnight. I didn't know what to do with them and I was still very out of it and nauseous. I do remembering changing a couple of diapers that night and giving them bottles but I think we were up all night that night. The nurse that was on staff was awful. But the day time nurse came on and it was wonderful the rest of my stay.
The first day, I was still in no pain. The boys slept good in one bassinet in the room. They would take then so I could get some sleep. The first two day Nancy came to sit with me and the babies, while Steve went to work. I had visitors also throughout out day. My grandparent came to see us and so did Grammy Jonas. Mike and Leslie came the second evening I was there. The third day Leslie and Lisa came to sit with me, while Steve went to work for a few hours. The boys eat, slept and pooped.
I went home on Thursday about noon. When we got home, our house was decorated with little streamers and balloons - welcoming Chase and Cody home for the first time. Decorated by Lisa and Leslie.
