Pumpkin Patch Fun

On Thursday, Chase and Cody's classroom went to the local pumpkin patch. Oh what fun!! It was a great place to play. They had a huge sand pile that the boys thought was perfect place to play in all morning. I did get them off of the pile to play a little bit on the tractor and we did go through the hay bail maze. The tractor ride was very fun we saw a lot of cows and then a very new baby calf.

Very cute. They also had a petting zoo with sheep, goats and another calf.

Chase also played baby bottle bowling with big baby bottle. He thought that was fun.

After everything we picked out two pumpkins and went back to school - so I could go too work!

With the pumpkins that we got at the patch Chase and Cody made Mr Potato Heads out of them by sticking the things into the pumpkin. The pumpkins turned out great and Chase and Cody had a great time poking them with eyes, ears, and mouths. As you can see one is a clown and the other is a pirate.

Sleeping and Pee Pee

Chase and Cody for about a week now have been sleeping in their beds not on the floor like they have been for the past few months. Cody did fall off the bed last night but I put him back on and he stayed on the rest of the night. They have been doing well also about not waking up. Cody has caught a little nose bug thing that is going around and still sleeping through that. Very good boys!!

For the last few nights, before bath Chase has Pee Peed in the big potty!! He is all excited now to do it at night time. Maybe this is a small step in potty training. I was all excited for him and clapped and jumped up and down. I thought about giving a small piece of candy as a reward, but how do I reward Chase without upsetting Cody. Cody is starting to sit on the potty at least but pretends to pee and gets off the potty. So do I reward both? Any suggestions what the next step is for Chase? Do I push a little bit and put him in pull ups or too soon? Let me know some advice...

Oktoberfest

On Sunday we went over to our local Oktoberfest. They best thing about it was the awesome pumpkins Chase and Cody got to paint. They had so much fun painting on a pumpkin. They turned out really good also.

Weekend Post

We are finding that spending time with family at this most difficult time is the best. Papa wouldn't want us to be too upset. He would also of liked to see the great-grandkids playing together this last weekend. Together there is 7 great-grandkids and they all get along very well. The oldest is 6 and the youngest is 13 months.

Friday we gathered at grandma's so again spend time with family we don't see often enough. Here are some pictures from that:

Saturday we went to the USS Midway museum. A Navy aircraft carrier that they have turned into a wonderful museum. What a huge ship. There was tons of walking and a lot to see and do on the ship. What a way to live for months on end. I really respect the men on the ship and others in the Armed Forces that live that way. We spent hours there and the boys and I never saw it all until I realized that they needed a nap and we left before even seeing the flight deck. I hear that was amazing and I can't wait to go back when the boys are older and they would be able to enjoy and understand more of it. Chase and Cody really liked the airplanes on the ship.

Maybe one day they will be a pilot. They diffently liked playing with all the buttons. It kept them busy for a while.

Alligator

The week before my papa passed away he was in the hospital. We were spending every day there being with him and spending time with family from out of state. So at the hospital to keep the kids entertained my uncles told Chase and Cody that there was an alligator down a drain to look at it and talk to it. It was funny watching them look down the drain at an imaginary alligator. Here are some the pictures of them. They would explain to people walking by that there was a alligator in there. That was making people laugh at maybe a tough day.

My grandma even got them to feed the alligator some leaves because of course the alligator was very hungry. They did it probably kept them busy for about an hour. Putting leaves down the drain. Anything to keep little kids busy at a tough times and still get some laughs.

My Papa

Born in San Diego, CA on April 28, 1923. He grew up in San Diego, riding his bike and playing in fields that are now buildings. He became a big brother when he was 12 years old to Barbara, who has since passed away. He went to San Diego High School but never graduated due to a little war called World War II. He served in the Army over in Europe. As a mechanic in the service he repaired airplanes.

He came home and married his long time girlfriend, Dorothy. They were married on April 21, 1946. Papa worked as a mechanic for the local chevy dealership in San Diego. He also worked in his fathers shop downtown San Diego before it was taken over where the Horton Plaza sits now. Papa and grandma moved to Jamul, CA in the far east county and began to raise there family. They had 3 children, 2 boys and a girl.

Papa loved to be around people and have parties. The more kids there were the better. He would always stop in the grocery store and talk to all the babies. They would always smile for him. He just had a way with babies. His favorite food was soup and coffee. He also liked ice cream and cookies.

Papa touched every life that ever came to know him. We miss you and love you.

Papa - I Love you

As I sit here in tears, I want to inform you that my grandfather passed away this afternoon. He was very much apart of my life and our memories will always be with me. He left this world with his family close by to a more peacful place. He is now with my mom and they are both looking over the family and all of our tears. He has left behind a wife, 2 sons, 2 daughter-in-laws, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-children, nieces and nephews, and many many lifelong friends that will all miss him very much.

I will do a picture dedication and a memory lookback throughtout that days, weeks and months to come.

I will always love you papa...you are the best grandfather a granddaughter could ask for.

Cody Dancing

This is from a few weeks back when we were camping at the Thunderboats. We would have music on and Cody would stand up a dance. He always has his head bouncing when thiers music on or his hand going. It was very entertaining to watch him. He is dancing to Big and Rich "Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy".

We also watch the Top 20 Countdown of music videos from CMT. Cody's favorite video is the chicken video as he calls it. The video that he likes is "Stay" by Sugarland. The video was taped in Hawaii on Kauaii and they have a abundance of chickens/roosters. He loves to see the rooster int his video. He danced through this whole song!

The video loaded funny but you can still get the idea of him dancing!

Little Boys

Chase showing you a empty snail shell that he has found in our backyard. I was very glad that was empty. Cody likes to do the snail stomp. Papa has showed him how to squish (stomp) on the snails. When I was little this was always a joke that my grandfather and I would have to go out and do the snail stomp to kill the many, many snails we would have around the house. I didn't like it, I thought it was icky!! So at least Cody has taken up the sport!

Neighborhood Halloween Fun

In our last neighborhood we received a "Boo Bag". Someone secretly put on your doorstep a bag full of goodies with a poem and a BOO sign. You were to enjoy the bag of goodies which include candy, haloween candles, flashlights, carving tools, pumpkins, anything halloween. You tape your BOO sign to your front door, so your neighbors know not to Boo you again. Then you make two of your own bags with in 24 hours and secretly put them on two of your neighboors door step. It was a lot of fun to do this.

When we moved out of that neighboorhood 3 years ago I was bummed that I couldn't participate in this anymore. Now i do it to my neighbors. I started it last night with 4 bags placed around my neighboorhood. It is very scary in the dark walking up to someones door quitely trying not to get caught. So now I look forward to this starting in my neighborhood. I look on the doors to see the signs and where they will pop up next. It just makes the holiday that much fun.

Does anyone else do something like this in their neighboorhoods?

Family Campout

Last weekend we went camping at Campland by the Bay on Mission Bay. It was a wonderful weekend spent with family. Steve's aunt from Washington and his other aunt from Arizona both came into town. It was very nice to see both of them. Chase and Cody rode their bikes all over, I think their little legs were so sore after the weekend was over. They also had fun playing with their cousin Tatum.

Of course, their was a bunch of food around all the time. For dinner on Saturday night we put a prime rib in a roaster pan and boy did it turn out good! We also had turkey and all the fixing that you could imagine. We had so much food we all took food back. It did start to rain as we were starting to serve our dinner so we scrambled around put the food under the awnings and put up a couple of EZ Ups. After that, we enjoyed dinner and bunch of homemade (and store bought) good desserts.

We did have some excitement on Friday night with Cody and Chase. Cody decided he wanted to lock himself and his brother into grandpa and grandma's motorhome. No one had a key to open up the motorhome so here they stood waving at us as we were trying to convince them to unlock the door. We probably spent a good 10 minutes doing that and realized we had to take another approach to this. So grandma had opened up the bathroom window (the smallest window in he motorhome) so Steve pushed me through the window. I didn't know if I would fit and after turning my hips a little I was in. I unlocked the door and came to the rescue of Cody and Chase. Now if you ask Chase about being locked in the motorhome he will point to Cody and blame the whole thing on him.
