Two for Two-sday & Update

Playing along with Debi today on Two for Two-sday! Click on the button below to play along!

This picture of Chase and Cody is from a couple of weeks ago. I found this recipe for O'Henry Bars from The Amazing Trips. (I don't have the exact link of the recipe I will re-link it tonight when I get home.)
The O'Henry Bars turned out to be delicious and of course Chase and Cody helped with the majority of it. They put the ingredients in the mixer and then they patted it into the baking sheet. We ate the dessert that night for desert, gave some to grandma and I brought them to work. Everyone liked them.

I also wanted for my own record update on two things: Sleeping and Potty Training.

Sleeping: Both boys for the last couple of months are in their room, sleeping in their race car beds. We go to bed at 8:30pm I read three books to them and they are asleep by 9:00pm. They both sleep all night and wake up in good moods (most of the time). It is nice to finally have a routine and children that sleep through the night. When Chase wakes up in the morning he calls out "Mom" and I come and get him carry him to the couch and we cuddle for about 15 minutes. Cody sleeps in a little more than Chase and when Cody wakes up he will walk out and find me (usually in the kitchen starting breakfast). He drinks some milk on the couch with me next to him.

Potty Training: Chase is completely potty trained. He will go in public bathrooms both pee and poop. There is no issues, he has been completely good for about two months now. Every once in a while he will still ask for jelly beans for a job well done for going poop.
Cody is completely pee trained. He did it when he was ready no matter how hard I pushed him, he pushed back the other way even harder. I backed away and he went. He finally got the hang of it and has not a accident since. Now pooping is a whole different story. He is very pee and poop shy. He will only pee when he is comfortable, it's getting better for public restrooms. He only poops at home and in his underwear. The last two nights I have been putting him back in pull-ups because I am tired of washing poop out of underwear. He will not use the toilet. Even if I ask him did you go poop? (When I know he has) He will answer No. Like he is ashamed of it or something. After he poops in his underwear I make him sit on the toilet. It's kind of frustrating and I am just not going to talk about it. Maybe I am putting to much pressure on him.

Sorry that got a little long.

Sleeping Night #5-7

Again, this is just to track that progress that we a making in sleeping through the night without waking up mom!

The last few nights, neither one sleeps all night. They want me to come into their bed now and cuddle with them. They wake up so wet that I have to change their pull-ups and jammies and sheets at night. They wake up between 2-5am. Saturday night they were both awake at the same time between 2-3am. Just wanted to cuddle and be awake.

Last night, Chase woke up just enough to be awake and for me to sit beside him for him to go back to sleep. Cody also woke up but he actually made himself go back to sleep and then he rolled off the bed and fell asleep on the floor the rest of the night!

I still think this is better for them to sleep in there own beds and wake me up then them in our bed.

Sleeping Night #4

This is mainly just for me to keep track of our progress...which last night was differently!!

It was 8:30pm, the boys wanted to cuddle on the couch a little longer, since we had just got home, but I worked through the cuddling (I didn't want to fall back into the habit) and happily got them into their room. We read books and they laid down with no problem. They were both asleep in about a half an hour. THEY SLEPT ALL NIGHT LONG!!

They both woke up in great moods also. No problems at all. They both ate breakfast with no complaints. I am so happy to be able to get a whole (uninterrupted) night of sleep!! Now, if only I can keep up with this over the weekend!!

Sleeping

I am just mainly doing this so I can track the progess (I hope) that we are making.

Last night the boys didn't go to bed until 8:45pm, after we got home from visiting grandparents. I read them a couple of books, and they both crawled into bed with no issues. Chase curled up first with me rubbing his back a little and one cup of juice he was asleep within maybe 10 minutes. Chase slept all night without waking up once. When he woke up he was in the worst mood and he had a lot of attitude, not wanting to brush teeth and hair and put his jacket and shoes on.

Cody fell asleep shortly after Chase after drinking 2 cups of milk and listening to his FP Aquarium play a little music. Cody woke up once at about 3:30am and after I put him back into bed with a little back rubbing he slept the rest of the morning. He woke up doing good, but had a attitude when I gave him the wrong spoon with breakfast and then wouldn't eat breakfast.

Sleeping

Last night bedtime was at 8pm. I read them a couple of books. They both climbed into bed with no complaints. About 15-20 minutes of me rubbing Chase's back he was sleep. And then I moved on to Cody rubbing his back for another 15-20 minutes he was sleep. Sweet Success! They were both sound asleep, for the time being, at 8:45pm.

Chase woke up, the first time, at 1:45am, put him back into his bed, rubbing his back, back to sleep for all of a half an hour. Again rubbing his back and I am back in bed by 2:15am. Cody wakes up at 3am. I put him back into bed where he starts to cry (because he wants daddy) I lay down with him and about 10 minutes later he is also laying down with me in his bed. He falls asleep again and I get back into bed about 3:45am.

They sleep the rest of the morning and I wake them up at 6:10am for school. They had no problems getting up, getting dressed and with no attitudes. I hope that this kind of success continues.

Sleeping

For the past 6 months or so, we have been very bad about a sleeping routine. They were falling asleep in our arms on the couch as we were watching television, then I would carry them into their beds. Chase 5 out of the 6 nights sleep until 5am - the other 2 nights he came into our bed to stay at about midnight. Cody would just come into our bed about midnight every night to stay. I knew this was bad, but just knowing that they (too soon) will be not wanting anything to do with me because I am mom I was happy that they were there. But seeing how they will be turning 3 in a month I thought they should get used to going to sleep in there own bed and sleeping all night in there own bed. So I started last night.

We had baths, we played for a little while and about 8:30pm told the boys okay, give daddy kisses we are going to bed. It was all good. Went into the bedroom, they laid down, I read them 4 short books and they were laying in there beds doing good. Chase was laying there very good but Cody was bouncing all over the place, wanted to go to the couch, wanted daddy, and so on. They both started to get up now and I would just put them back into bed and tell them "Good night" and kiss them on the cheek. Soon, with Cody it was all out screaming. Finally, about 10:45pm they both went to sleep. They each needed something to drink to aide that though - so I will have to ween them off of that next.

Chase ended up coming into our room, twice, around 3am and I carried him back into his bedroom. He stayed the second time. Cody slept all night. This morning everyone was tired. I am hoping that this is a good foundation to give them some better sleeping habits.

I will keep you posted on how tonight's sleep goes.

Sleeping and Pee Pee

Chase and Cody for about a week now have been sleeping in their beds not on the floor like they have been for the past few months. Cody did fall off the bed last night but I put him back on and he stayed on the rest of the night. They have been doing well also about not waking up. Cody has caught a little nose bug thing that is going around and still sleeping through that. Very good boys!!

For the last few nights, before bath Chase has Pee Peed in the big potty!! He is all excited now to do it at night time. Maybe this is a small step in potty training. I was all excited for him and clapped and jumped up and down. I thought about giving a small piece of candy as a reward, but how do I reward Chase without upsetting Cody. Cody is starting to sit on the potty at least but pretends to pee and gets off the potty. So do I reward both? Any suggestions what the next step is for Chase? Do I push a little bit and put him in pull ups or too soon? Let me know some advice...

Sleeping

The last two nights, Chase and Cody haven't been sleeping very sound. Monday night they each woke up at 4:30am. They had decided that it was morning time and just started to play. I tried to explain to them that they could still sleep another hour and a half before waking up to go to school. No luck. So here we are up at 4:30am playing, wrestling, running around and screaming. I guess at school they slept so good at naptime that they had go in and wake them up. Of course they were exhausted by then!

Last night they went to sleep good, still sleeping on the floor. Neither one will sleep in their actual bed. They both woke up at 2am and were awake between the two of them a hour and half. They did finally go back to sleep, but I am wondering if it has something to do with the moon being a full moon. I think I have heard something about that could affect your sleep. I am going to have to see the next time we have a full moon and see how they sleep.

So this is how I found them this morning snuggled up together sleeping.

Chase's 1st Conversation

Chase and I had a real conversation on Tuesday night and this is how it went. I thought it was very cute that he has so many words now that he can have a conversation.

Preface: We had to park up the street on Tuesday and walk to the house because they had just resealed the street and we couldn't drive on it. On the way to the house, Chase fell down and skinned his knee. Nothing big just a minor scrap, he was still able to make it home.

Later that night sitting in his room this is what we talked about his injury.

Chase: An Owee (pointing to the scrap)
Me: Yes, you fell down
Chase: An Owee, walking, street
Me: You fell down in the street and hurt your knee? Are you going to be okay?
Chase: Yeah
Me: Do you need me too kiss your Owee?
Chase Yeah, fell down walking, street
Me: (Lean over and kiss Owee) Is that better?
Chase: No hurt Owee walking
Me: Do you need medicine on your knee?
Chase: Yeah medicine better knee.

I later put some ointment on it. And he is going to survive. But I thought that was a great 1st conversation.

Also on Wednesday night, Steve called on his way home and I let Chase "talk" to daddy. He actually said hello and good into the phone. That was the first time that he just didn't look at the phone and want to push buttons. Cody still just wants to push buttons!!

Cody is also doing very well with his words. Everyday he will say something else. When Cody has his first conversation I will post that also. I am hoping that it is soon.

Oh and also a sleeping update. Cody for the past 4 nights has woke up. He is very fussy and just not happy sleeping in his room. He wants to cuddle and be held. He has ended up in our bed for those 3 of those nights. About a 1 hour later he is ready to go back to his bed. I am hoping that this is a phase that will pass. Chase has slept all of these nights. He has made some noise but he is able to put himself right back to sleep. He is awake though between 5:30am and 6:00am ready for his day to begin!!

STTN!!

I wanted to let everyone know that both Chase and Cody both slept through the night last night!! They both went to bed about 9pm and Chase woke up at 5:30am. He is my morning kid. Cody woke up a little later about 7am. But what a difference a couple of weeks make. I am hopeful that this will continue!!

Of course, Cody didn't sleep at all in his bed, he really likes sleeping on the floor and also under the bed. I guess, his Uncle Daniel used to sleep under his bed also. And when I checked on them at about 3:30am Chase's legs were under his bed. Cody probably told Chase how comfy it is under there so Chase wanted to try it out!!

Grandparents and Fishing

Chase, Cody and I went out to my grandparents house on Sunday. The boys have fun playing in the dirt and riding thier bikes. They also look for bugs with Papa and they get so excited when they find a bug. Cody and Chase also helped Papa pull some weeds and put them in a box. They played ball with Grandma. Grandma always has good things to eat also, so much better then what mom brings for them to eat.

While we visiting grandparents, Steve was fishing in the Pacific Ocean. He left on Saturday night with my cousin. They were going with a few friends on a friends boat. They were trying to catch Albacore. The boat was 26' long, the waves are very big in the ocean. They had a great time went as far as 15 miles south on Encenada, Mexico. They were able to snag a few on the line but they all got away. Needless to say, after 24 hours of fishing and no catching, everyone was very tired. Steve says he can't wait to do it again and maybe next time they will actually catch something.

Also an update on Chase and Cody sleeping in the toddler beds. They are doing well actually. They haven't fallen off in the last couple of nights, that I know of. Chase has slept through the night also. Cody still wakes up and he wants Milk. We are not giving anything to drink except for water when they wake up. After a short stay in our bed he falls asleep and back into his bed he goes. They have been napping very well in the beds though. They still sleep about 2-2 1/2 hours for a nap. It is so funny how they sleep so differently, Cody likes to have every blanket and stuffed animal around him and snuggled up with him. Chase doesn't like anything except his blankie, he doesn't even like blankets on him.

Night #2

Just a quick note to update on how the sleeping in toddler beds are going. It was a way better night then the first night. However, they both did wake up and ended up on our bed. But at least they fell right back to sleep in about a 1/2 hour. When Cody woke up at 12:30am waking, he cried and when I came into the room I couldn't find him. He then says "Stuck". He was under the bed. He wasn't really stuck but probably a little more confined then he is used too. Leave it to Cody to somehow roll off the bed and then back underneath the bed in a space about 1 foot wide.

Toddler Beds

I thought it was time to convert Chase and Cody's cribs to Toddler Beds. I also am trying to break them from sleeping with us and sleeping all night. We have a bad habit right now of waking up at least once during the night. We took off the front panel of the cribs and the boys were so excited, they were able to climb up and down into beds. We put them to sleep and laid them in bed about 12:30pm Cody woke up (his normal time). He was almost back to sleep about 1:30 when his brother decided it was time also to wake up. Oh what fun that is too be awake at 2am. They ran around, jumped, laughed and just had a good old time in the middle of the night. They were finally tired out about 4am. And crashed until 7:45am. I am hoping that it just gets better from here!!

Here they are in their new beds!!

Chase

Cody

And of course Cody was not in his bed this morning at 6am. He was on the floor by Chase.
