Cody and a Guitar

I think I have mentioned before that Cody and Chase got guitars from Santa. Well, these guitars have lost it's strings in first few hours of playing with them. They loved them so much...especially Cody. I have teased that we will need to get Cody some guitar lessons in the future...

He will get up on stage and sing for us with his guitar. Here he is singing with a country song.

Getting to know ... Cody

Just to update my records and so I can remember stuff!

Cody - 3 1/2 years old
Nickname(s): Codman, Coder, and Snoopy

Cody is a little more harder for me to put into words. Cody has a heart of warmth and lots of love. He absolutely loves his brother, but also try's to upset him whenever possible. He doesn't get in trouble that much, he learns from his brothers mistakes. He doesn't cry unless there is something wrong and then you know there is something wrong. Cody is more go with the flow and I will find something fun to do.
Cody doesn't care what he wears, sweats to jeans, if it matches or if it's backwards, it's even better. Almost every time he gets dressed by himself, it's on backwards. I call him my backwards child (not too his face), I know it's only a phase. He loves wearing flip flops as his favorite shoes, but again they are always on the wrong feet! He wears 4T in pants and 4T in shirts. Probably wearing a 5T by the summertime in shirts and a 11 shoe. Cody is a good 1/2 head taller than Chase. Cody could care less if his hair is combed, but he loves bath time and especially bubble baths. Bubble baths break him out though because of his Atopic Dermatitis so we don't have them very often.

I can't get Cody to get into arts or crafts. He will do a little bit of the craft and then he just can't sit still. He likes to write on the write board books that he got for Christmas and draw on those, but to color or paint is just to time consuming for him. He would rather be outside riding his scooter or his bike. He is very good on his two- wheel scooter and can go a long time without putting his foot down. He still has training wheels on his two wheeler bike, something we need to work on because I think he is ready to let them go. Cody will do about 5 minutes of a board game and then get up and run around. He gets frustrated easily waiting again for his turn. He loves Mickey Mouse right now with Pluto being his favorite character. He also pretends to be a dog, names Snoopy and will act more like Pluto. He uses his paws to eat with and he crawls on four paws instead of walking. He also barks when he is in Snoopy mode. He is very lovable when he is in Snoopy mode. Instead of kisses he will lick. I play along, as does Chase, because I know that pretend play is good. He loves dogs, loves to pet them, hug them and play with them.

Cody is a good eater, with Steak and Corn probably being his favorite meal. He also likes taco's. He is completely addicted to milk (don't tell me how bad it is, I know). He loves milk and drinks a lot of it, like 1 1/2 gallon in 7 days. He likes Gatorade and Chocolate milk with dinner. He also drinks water, will only take a few sips of a soda and not want anymore. His favorite snack foods are popcorn and jalapeno chips (hot chips). Cody has one ducky blue and yellow blankie that he carries around in the house and we take it in the car, but it doesn't go beyond that. Needs blankie to get through the day. Cody likes to go to bed a little later than Chase around 8:30pm and then sleeps in until 7:30am. He will sometimes come into my bed during the night lately. (A habit that we need to break!).

I differently want to remember this age with Cody. He is so much fun to be around and such a helper and a wonderful son!

Camera Fun

After we completed dinner last night, I got out the camera for just in case type pictures. The boys were playing really well together, jumping over paper towels, and playing their guitars, so thought I would have my camera ready for some good pictures.

Which lead to a mommy has the camera out lets hide game. There were a lot of picture taken of my kitchen cabinets which Chase was hiding behind and he would come out and I would *try* to take a picture of him. They were getting a kick out of this little game and t was fun to listen to them laugh so hard.

Here are some of the great smiles and just pictures of our fun!

Chase and his smile.
Chase coming out from hiding around the corner and I got the picture!

Snapped another one of him peaking out from around the corner!
Cody was way more serious about it and wanted to pose for pictures. So here is him just saying cheese and being goofy!

I am not quite sure what he is laughing so hard about but whatever it was was sure was funny. He would tell me "Mom, Chase is right there, take his picture." It was funny!

New Boots

I found at Walmart yesterday, Chase and Cody's first pair of boots. I had been thinking it was about time that they should have a pair of cheap boots. I knew that once they would get them that would probably be the only shoe they wore.

When I opened the boxes of boots, they were so excited! They went and got their socks on and said they had to go to the rodeo.

Chase showing off his boots! He has black boots, because he is very much into black!

Cody and his boots. They make them look so much older! They love them and yes they will probably wear them to bed!

Way Back When-sday

This is Cody taking a bath.

The reason behind this picture this week is that Cody's favorite song right now is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse "Pluto's Bubble Bath" Song. Which goes something like this:

"When your in a bubble and you are floating along
singing dibble dabble dibble and floating along!"

This is while Mickey Mouse and Pluto is in a bubble in the air floating along.

He loves this song and also wants a bubble bath. We haven't done a bubble bath in a long time and he has requested me to get at the store some bubble bath so he can take a bubble bath like Pluto!

Cody's A Big Boy & Friday Foto Finish

We might of had a break through!!

Cody finally went poop in the toilet!!

Yes, that is bold and in big letters. I showed him how happy I was for doing such a good deed, and not in his pants! This picture was right after he went poop and got his new toy that he had been wanting for months!

I am hoping that now that he knows that it is not scary that he will do it again and again.

The details (don't read if you don't want the nitty gritty of little boys going potty!)

I thought he might have to go and I think he started to go in his underwear, I sent him to the bathroom, like I have done many times before, but it's like he wanted to sit on the toilet. He started to get up like normal and I grabbed a book and we started talking about the color pants the character in the book was wearing. I could see he relaxed more as we were talking and then he went. He got all excited when it happened and hugged me with a huge smile on his face! The other thing was that Chase wasn't in the bathroom at the time. Chase was checking out a mess that I have on the floor in the office, so there was no pressure of big brother (that is potty trained) hounding him that it was his turn on the potty.

This totally Finishes off my week and especially my Friday! Play along here:

Potty Training Update

Cody's Potty Training Update

*I am up to my ears in poop here people.
He does not get it that it goes in the toilet. He will tell you where it goes, but then he continue to go in his underwear. He only poops at home in his underwear. He doesn't go poop anywhere else, well I take that back he has gone in his underwear at grandma's also. But never in the toilet.
*I have heard that they do it on their own time, but now it's my time.
*He goes every night just about the same time, at a time right after dinner, when I am not paying much attention to him as I am cleaning up the kitchen from dinner.
*On Monday I set my timer for 6:30 around the time he normally goes and no he went early at 5:30pm.
*On Tuesday again, I talk to him every few minutes "Let's go Potty." just to remind him about the whole process. I took him also a few times and he never went last night at all.
*So we will see what happens tonight.

Dentist Visit

Just to update on Cody's tooth we went for a follow up appointment this morning.

The tooth has seemed to lightened up in color and the doctor agreed to that. They did another x-ray which Cody really didn't like but suffered through it.

The results showed that the root still hasn't been affected and at this point the tooth will go to be abscessed eventually. That could be in a couple of months or a couple of years. The tooth will get loose or will eventually have to be taken out.

The good news is that it is no way right now affecting his permanent tooth. The only way this will affect the adult tooth is if the abscessed tooth does not get fixed.

We will go back to the regular cleaning schedule and just keep an eye on that tooth!

Backwards

It seems like Cody has a special way of dressing himself. On school mornings, I normally pick out a shirt and shorts that match and then he can get dressed himself with a little direction from me.
Now on days we are just hanging around the house I let him pick out and get dressed in what he wants to. When he is finished 90% of the time his clothes are on backwards!

This shirt is always warn backwards. He thinks that the printing needs to go into the back. He told me that "This is how daddy wears his shirts and I am big like daddy." His shorts are on backwards also in this picture.

His whole outfit is on backwards again. Yes, I admit that this shirt is a little harder to tell front from back because it is stripped on both side.

So last week, he wears a shirt to school backwards, and the teacher asks me if he was planning on joining the 4 year old that turn their shirts around. Well, I said I didn't know anything about the 4 year olds that turn their shirts around, so apparently their are 4 year olds, after they get dropped off at school turn their shirts around to be in a "group". They think it is cool to wear their shirts backwards, maybe Cody does also!

Two for Tuesday - Dentist Update

Today's Two for Twos-day is from a month or so ago. It was Tatum's birthday and I captured

this great picture of my niece Christina and Chase. It is a great picture!
The boys love playing with cousin Christina, she is so much fun!

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I took Cody and Chase to the dentist yesterday for a cleaning. Cody got a little upset going into the back, but was fine by the time he was picking out a toy (30 seconds later). They both did good getting a cleaning with a toothbrush and a quick check with the dentist. Chase chipped tooth has healed according to the dentist and there is no problems. It hasn't affected him at all.
Cody's front tooth that is now getting darker in color (almost dark gray at the top), the dentist says the the root still is not affected and we will watch it for another month and then decide on what to do. I am still against doing a root canal, but don't want it to affect his permanent tooth. So we will wait and see what the tooth does.

Dentist

I noticed over the last few weeks that Cody front top tooth was starting I thought turn a dark color. I know that he brushes his teeth pretty good for a 3 year old, with me helping sometimes. But didn't think it was just dirty. So last week took him to the dentist to get an x-ray on the tooth to find out what is happening.

He hated it, started crying in the car before going to the dentist. We have been to the dentist twice before this with no issues for cleaning and just to get to know the dentist.

So the dentist, looks into his mouth and notices the discolored tooth also. The dentist says that if the tooth is getting lighter in color than it was a week ago, then that it good. And they will leave it alone and let it repair itself. The roots look good but the nerve might be damaged, no way to tell. But if the tooth keeps getting darker, we will have to do a root canal. Now I am thinking, I am not going to traumatise my child with a root canal at 3 years old. When I myself, have never had one done. I guess the root canal will save the tooth. But they are his baby teeth, why can't he just loose it.

I don't know what happened, he must have bumped his mouth (tooth) when he fell down. But I wanted to see if anyone that reads my world, if they had any experience with root canals, dentist with 3 year old's, or discolored teeth.

Makes My Monday

This weeks Makes My Monday is -

Cody went #1 potty all weekend in the toilet!!

This is a huge step for him. We have been trying and trying to get it to click - even with Chase fully potty trained it didn't matter to Cody. I don't know what happened but it clicked and I started to jump up and down and the more I jumped up and down the more #1 he went. It was a great weekend!

And that's what makes my Monday!!

Birthday Party

We celebrated Chase and Cody's 3rd birthday on Sunday with our closest friends and family.

Cody
Chase

The party was held at a local park that runs a steam engine train. All the kids got to ride the train. It was a big hit and everyone wanted to ride it again, but we waited to long and it was closed. Just means we can go back again later this summer when we are looking for things to do.

We ate delicious hot dogs and hamburgers. The weather turned out to be wonderful sunny and bright.

The pinata was a huge success. Cody was able to break it open the first time and then we repaired it, because there was still candy in it. So everyone was able to hit it. We had a lot of laughs at the way the kids were hitting it. after it broke everyone to get the candy.

Of course we had cake and cupcakes that the boys and I made. It turned out pretty good. The boys decorated the cupcakes all by themselves.

It seemed like everyone had a great time.
