Dentist Visit

Just to update on Cody's tooth we went for a follow up appointment this morning.

The tooth has seemed to lightened up in color and the doctor agreed to that. They did another x-ray which Cody really didn't like but suffered through it.

The results showed that the root still hasn't been affected and at this point the tooth will go to be abscessed eventually. That could be in a couple of months or a couple of years. The tooth will get loose or will eventually have to be taken out.

The good news is that it is no way right now affecting his permanent tooth. The only way this will affect the adult tooth is if the abscessed tooth does not get fixed.

We will go back to the regular cleaning schedule and just keep an eye on that tooth!

Two for Tuesday - Dentist Update

Today's Two for Twos-day is from a month or so ago. It was Tatum's birthday and I captured

this great picture of my niece Christina and Chase. It is a great picture!
The boys love playing with cousin Christina, she is so much fun!

I took Cody and Chase to the dentist yesterday for a cleaning. Cody got a little upset going into the back, but was fine by the time he was picking out a toy (30 seconds later). They both did good getting a cleaning with a toothbrush and a quick check with the dentist. Chase chipped tooth has healed according to the dentist and there is no problems. It hasn't affected him at all.
Cody's front tooth that is now getting darker in color (almost dark gray at the top), the dentist says the the root still is not affected and we will watch it for another month and then decide on what to do. I am still against doing a root canal, but don't want it to affect his permanent tooth. So we will wait and see what the tooth does.

Dentist

I noticed over the last few weeks that Cody front top tooth was starting I thought turn a dark color. I know that he brushes his teeth pretty good for a 3 year old, with me helping sometimes. But didn't think it was just dirty. So last week took him to the dentist to get an x-ray on the tooth to find out what is happening.

He hated it, started crying in the car before going to the dentist. We have been to the dentist twice before this with no issues for cleaning and just to get to know the dentist.

So the dentist, looks into his mouth and notices the discolored tooth also. The dentist says that if the tooth is getting lighter in color than it was a week ago, then that it good. And they will leave it alone and let it repair itself. The roots look good but the nerve might be damaged, no way to tell. But if the tooth keeps getting darker, we will have to do a root canal. Now I am thinking, I am not going to traumatise my child with a root canal at 3 years old. When I myself, have never had one done. I guess the root canal will save the tooth. But they are his baby teeth, why can't he just loose it.

I don't know what happened, he must have bumped his mouth (tooth) when he fell down. But I wanted to see if anyone that reads my world, if they had any experience with root canals, dentist with 3 year old's, or discolored teeth.
