Birthday Party

We celebrated Chase and Cody's 3rd birthday on Sunday with our closest friends and family.

Cody
Chase

The party was held at a local park that runs a steam engine train. All the kids got to ride the train. It was a big hit and everyone wanted to ride it again, but we waited to long and it was closed. Just means we can go back again later this summer when we are looking for things to do.

We ate delicious hot dogs and hamburgers. The weather turned out to be wonderful sunny and bright.

The pinata was a huge success. Cody was able to break it open the first time and then we repaired it, because there was still candy in it. So everyone was able to hit it. We had a lot of laughs at the way the kids were hitting it. after it broke everyone to get the candy.

Of course we had cake and cupcakes that the boys and I made. It turned out pretty good. The boys decorated the cupcakes all by themselves.

It seemed like everyone had a great time.

A Day at the Zoo

On Friday, Chase, Cody, Grandmama and me went the the San Diego Zoo for Chase and Cody's birthday. They were so excited!

We went and rode the big bus around the park first and saw many different animals. Some of their favorite's were the monkey's, elephant's, and giraffe's. We actually saw a female lion awake. They are only awake for 3 hours a day - they slept for 21 hours a day. I never knew that!

Cody and I waiting on the bus for the tour to start.

This is a "baby" giraffe.

This was a very neat monkey in the children's zoo. It was really active and then it would sit and stare at you, like saying "what you looking at".

We also went into the Children's zoo and saw insects that Chase really liked! He liked watching the ants work in all their different trails. Cody stared into the bee exhibit for a long time. He was fascinated by them.

The zookeeper had this Praying Mathis on her glove and the boys were able to touch it's wing.

We had lunch and walked a little bit more but after that Chase and Cody were tired, as were mom and grandmama. We all headed for the car and came home.

Writer's Workshop - #1

The prompts over at Mama Kat blog are very fun this week, so I thought I would join in. Click the picture to join in also!

I am choosing prompt #1 this week:

If you could cut back in something in your life that takes up your time what would it be? And what would you prefer to spend time doing?

I knew this is what I needed to write about this week. I am totally burned out on work right now and see Chase and Cody growing up before my eyes. So I would cut back on working and spend more time with the boys. I recently started to look into swimming lessons, soccer, and sport organizations and everything is during the day while I am working and they are in school. I also feel myself saying "yeah maybe we will go there later or maybe we can do that later". Later in my sons lives are going to when they are grown up and they won't want mom around. I need to do that stuff now.

Cody Potty Training

I have to report that Cody pee peed in the toilet this morning for the first time!! I was so excited. He has been in underwear (during the day) since Monday but never have made it to the toilet. Last night after school every 15 minutes I would ask him to go sit on the potty. He never do go and I think just waited until he had on his pull up for night time to go.

But this morning, he went to the bathroom, all by himself, and then peed. He then said "Mommy, I pee peed." I said "You did? Where?" Cody said "Right there in the toilet, I get a piece of candy now right? and a sticker and a toy." I said "Yes you get it all" but first we had to change his shorts because he had his shorts down and yes some made it into the toilet but some also went onto the front of the toilet. I am differently not complaining this is a huge accomplishment!!

I think Cody is a little shy when it comes to this and this is why he won't pee (I guess pee shy). If he is pee shy now at (almost) 3, what will it be like in high school or adulthood? I hope he can get over it and we are on the way to potty training success!

(This is normally where I would post a cute picture of sweet Cody, but my camera card is not with me and I wanted to post this so I wouldn't forget)

I *heart* Faces - Kids & Pets

This week at I ♥ Faces the category is "Happy Birthday" for kids. With Chase and Cody's birthday just 4 days away, I wanted to enter a picture of Cody eating his first bite of cake at his first birthday. (It was a hard decision to pick Cody's picture over Chase's - they are both pretty cute!)

Click the button below to see the other cute birthday pictures that has entered.

At I ♥ Faces they are also having a special category for pets. This is the cutest picture of Diesel when he was just 7 weeks old. I just had to share it with you.
