On Thursday, we headed up to a little town in Central California called Firebaugh. We headed up there for the 10th annual Destruction Derby put on by CIOMA. This was our 4th year going and did we have a blast. On Saturday, Steve drove a car for the company that he works for. If you don't know what a Destruction Derby is let me explain.
You take a old car and make it safe by taking out the windshield, putting 4 point safety belts in it, weld the trunk and doors closed and some other minor things to the car. This was Steve car that he drove.
You take a rodeo arena and a whole bunch of mud. You put drivers in the cars and let them crash into each other.
And this is what you get.
A lot of crashed up cars with mud on them and a lot of smoke coming from the radiators.
There were 3 heats with 8-10 cars in each heat. The last two remaining cars still being driven are moved onto the finals. Steve drove in the 3rd heat. His car broke and needed a new fuel pump, which he couldn't fix, so he was out of the running. It was fun none the less.
Steve's boss, Matt, won the event and we were so happy. The trophy now stays in the company two years in a row!!
Sunday, we drove home the 8 hours - we were all tired but it was a great weekend.

That pretty cool. I bet that's fun to get to crash into cars like that. Have a great week!
